Projects and timeslips
Follow the progress of your projects with Structurell and see the time logged against them.
Projects and Timeslips give you a clear view of the work Structurell is doing for you. You can see each project's status, budget and dates, how much of each task's allowance has been used and how much is left, and a record of the time logged. You'll find both pages under Strengthen.
Each project is split into tasks, and each task holds the tickets for its work. For tickets, see Raising and following tickets.
Before you start
Projects, tasks and timeslips are set up and recorded by the Structurell team. You can view them, but you can't create projects or log time yourself. If you think a project or timeslip is missing or wrong, contact support.
Both pages are visible to subscription administrators, and to other users who have been given permission to view projects. If you can't see Projects or Timeslips under Strengthen, ask a subscription administrator. See Users, teams, groups and permissions.
The Projects page
Go to Strengthen → Projects to see an overview headed Manage Projects.
At the top are summary cards:
- Total Projects: how many projects you can see.
- Status Groups: how many different project statuses there are.
- Hours Worked: the total time logged across your projects in the current month. The dates the total covers are shown on the card. Larger totals are shown in days, based on an eight-hour day.
Below the cards, projects are grouped by status. Work in progress, such as active projects, is listed first, and finished work, such as completed projects, is listed last. Each project shows its name and a coloured status label. Select a project to open it.
If there are no projects to show, you'll see No Projects Available. Use Refresh overview to reload the page.
Viewing a project
Opening a project shows its details on one page. At the top:
- Tickets opens the ticket board for this project.
- Refresh project reloads the page.
Times on this page are shown in days, hours and minutes, based on an eight-hour day.
Project details
The top of the page shows:
- Status: where the project is up to.
- Monthly rate and Project budget: the agreed figures for the project, where they apply.
- Start date and End date: the planned delivery dates.
- Task mix: how many tasks the project has in total.
Task capacity
The Task capacity panel shows how much of the project's time allowance has been used. The badge next to the heading shows the time logged against the time allowed.
- Logged is the time recorded so far.
- Left now is the time left in the allowance, and Left after estimates is what will be left once the estimated work on the open tickets is done. See Checking time left. If these figures can't be loaded, you'll see a single Remaining figure instead.
- Task mix shows how many tasks are active and how many are completed.
- A progress bar shows overall capacity used. It turns amber as the allowance nears its limit and red once it is used up.
A note may tell you that some open tickets have no estimate yet, or that the task budgets add up to more than the project budget.
Underneath is a list of tasks. For each task you'll see the Task name, its Usage (time logged against the time allowed), the Rate, the Allowed time, the Deadline, whether it is Billable and its Status. Select a task's name to open the ticket board for that task. If there are no tasks yet, you'll see No tasks created.
Depending on your permissions, you may also see an Add task button and edit or delete buttons on each task. Most customers only view tasks.
Timeslips for the project
Above the timeslips, three cards summarise the project's time:
- Hours this week: time logged so far this week, with a small chart by day.
- Billable: the share of the time that was on billable tasks.
- Unbilled hours: billable time that hasn't been invoiced yet.
The Timeslips panel lists the time logged against this project, with the total shown next to the heading. Each entry shows the date, the task, a short description of the work, who did it and how many hours it took.
By default, the panel shows the current month. To look at a different period, change From date and To date. The list and total update to match. If nothing was logged in that period, you'll see No Timeslips.
The Timeslips page
Go to Strengthen → Timeslips to see time logged across all your projects in one place.
Choosing what to see
Use the Options panel to narrow the list:
- From date and To date set the period. The current month is shown by default.
- Project limits the list to one project. Choose All projects to see everything.
- Task limits the list to one task within the chosen project. It shows Select a project first until you pick a project.
List and calendar views
The Timeslips panel shows the total time for your chosen period next to its heading. Larger totals are shown in days, based on an eight-hour day.
- List shows each timeslip as an entry with the date, project, task, the person who did the work, a short description and the hours.
- Calendar shows the same timeslips on a calendar, which you can switch between month and week views. The calendar opens on the start of your chosen period.
Troubleshooting
Hours Worked doesn't appear on the Projects page
The card is hidden if the time logged couldn't be loaded, rather than showing a misleading zero. Select Refresh overview to try again.
The totals look lower than expected
Check the dates. Totals only cover the period you've chosen, and the Hours Worked card on the Projects page only covers the current month.
Hours have moved off a ticket
If a ticket is moved to a different task, the time already logged against it stays on the original task for billing, and is no longer linked to the ticket.
