Choosing and switching subscriptions

Understand subscriptions, choose which one to work in and switch between them from the Portal header.

A subscription is your organisation's workspace in Structurell. It holds your content, customers, settings and users, and its package decides which services are available. Your account can belong to more than one subscription, for example if you work for several organisations or brands. This article explains how the Portal decides which subscription you are working in and how to switch.

How subscriptions and your account fit together

  • You have one Structurell account, with one email address, password and set of sign-in methods.
  • Your account can be a member of several subscriptions. In each one you can be an ordinary member or an administrator, with different permissions.
  • Everything you see in the left navigation, and everything you create, belongs to the subscription you are currently working in.

Administrators manage who belongs to a subscription in Account → Users. See Users, teams, groups and permissions.

When you sign in

What you see after signing in depends on how many subscriptions you belong to.

  • One subscription: it opens automatically.
  • Several subscriptions: you see Choose a subscription, with a tile for each one. Select a tile to open that subscription.
  • No subscriptions: you see the Subscription Access page, where you can ask an administrator for access. See Requesting access to a subscription.

Check which subscription you are in

The name of your current subscription appears at the top of every page in the header, next to a subscription icon. Hover over it to see "Choose subscription..." followed by the name. Always check this before making changes, so that you are working in the right place.

Switch to another subscription

  1. Select the subscription name in the header.
  2. In the Choose a subscription window, select the subscription you want. Your current subscription is marked with a tick and cannot be selected.

The Portal switches to the subscription you chose. The navigation updates to show the services and pages available in that subscription, based on its package and your permissions there. If the switch does not work, you will see "An error has occurred" and stay in your current subscription. Try again, and if it keeps happening, contact your administrator or contact support.

To close the window without switching, select the close button in its corner.

In the iOS app, switch subscription from Account → Subscriptions. See Using the Structurell iOS app.

Notifications from other subscriptions

Your notifications list can include notifications from any of your subscriptions. Notifications for the subscription you are working in are labelled "For the current subscription"; the others show the name of their subscription. See Your profile and notification preferences.

Joining another subscription

You cannot join a subscription on your own. An administrator of that subscription needs to add or invite you, or accept a request from you.

Creating a new subscription

New subscriptions are not created from the Portal. If your organisation needs a new subscription, for example for a separate brand, contact support. To change what an existing subscription includes, see Package and add-ons.

Troubleshooting

  • A subscription is missing from the list. You may have been removed from it, or your membership may have been disabled. Ask that subscription's administrator.
  • A page you expect is missing after switching. Each subscription has its own package and your permissions can differ between subscriptions. See What Structurell is and how the Portal is organised.
  • You only have one subscription. The header still shows its name, and the list simply contains that one subscription.
