AI settings and your AI brain
Find your AI settings, set up the shared AI brain that keeps Structurell's AI features on-brand, and manage brain profiles.
Account → Settings → AI is where subscription administrators control how Structurell's AI features behave. The most important part is your AI Brain: a shared memory of your brand, audience, services and tone of voice. AI features across Structurell, such as product descriptions, category suggestions, content drafts and social calendar planning, read your brain so their suggestions sound like you.
Before you start
- AI must be included in your subscription's package. See Package and add-ons.
- These pages are for subscription administrators, and for users who have been given access to AI. See Users, teams, groups and permissions.
- The first time AI is set up for your subscription you may see Initialising your AI service.... You're taken on once it's ready. If AI is no longer active on your subscription, you're taken to Account → Subscription → Billing instead. See Billing.
- Your package may include a monthly limit on AI use. When it's reached, AI actions stop with a message such as AI monthly request limit reached. until the next month or until you change your package.
What's under AI
Open Account → Settings → AI. The first page shows AI usage this month (tokens and requests against your limit) and an overview of AI activity. Underneath it in the menu are:
- AI Brain: your shared brain. Covered in this article.
- Update memory, Approved rules, Suggestion queue, Audit history and Diagnostics: review and shape what the AI suggests. See AI memory, rules and suggestions.
- Prompt Templates and Prompt Context Fragments: control the AI steps in audits. See Prompt templates and context fragments.
AI Brain and the pages that review suggestions and rules have a Refresh button at the top to reload the latest information.
Set up your brain from your website
If you haven't set up a brain yet, AI Brain shows Set up your brain and asks for your website. Structurell reads your public site and writes a first version of your brain for you to review.
- Open AI Brain.
- Enter your public website address in Website URL.
- Select Create guidance.
Structurell reads a small number of pages from your site and turns what it finds into memories. The Website scan progress panel shows each step (Queued, Validating website, Crawling pages, Extracting guidance, Saving brain memory and Refreshing results) along with Pages crawled, Current URL, Step and Status.
The scan carries on if you leave the page, and the progress panel picks up where it is when you come back. Only one scan runs at a time. If you start another while one is running, you're attached to the running scan and see Attached to the active website scan.
When the scan finishes you'll see Guidance updated, with the Brain Profile it updated, how many Pages crawled and how many Fragments saved.
Review your brain
Once your brain exists, AI Brain shows the Your brain panel:
- Current brain: the name of the brain profile you're looking at, marked Ready or Inactive.
- Brain profiles: switch between profiles if you have more than one.
- Applies to and Used for: which area of Structurell and which kind of task the profile is for.
- Memory entries: how many memories the profile holds.
- Included shared context: how many other profiles it borrows from.
- Memories: a preview of up to six memories, each labelled with its type, such as Brand profile, Tone of voice or Guideline.
Refresh your brain from your website
If your website changes, select Update from website, check the Website URL and select Update from website again. Scanning the same website again replaces the memories the earlier scan created for that site, so your brain doesn't fill up with out-of-date copies.
Work with more than one brain profile
Most subscriptions only need the default brain. If you want separate guidance for a particular area, for example different wording for social posts, you can keep more than one brain profile.
- Choose a profile in Brain profiles to view it.
- Select Set as default to make it the one AI features use unless they're told otherwise. The current default shows Default instead of the button.
- Select Disable brain to stop a profile being used, or Enable brain to turn it back on. Disabling a profile stops every AI feature that reads it.
You need permission to manage the AI brain to see these buttons.
Advanced settings
Select Advanced settings to see the detail behind your brain: your Brain profiles, the selected Brain profile and its Memories. From here you can:
- Create or update a brain profile, giving it a Name, Code, Status, what it Applies to and what it's Used for, plus any Included shared context from other profiles.
- Create or update individual memories, choosing the Brain profile, Memory type, Code, Name, Status and Content, with an optional Change reason.
Select Create or Update to save. For most changes, Update from website is the simplest route. Advanced settings also links to Approved rules.
Troubleshooting
- Website scan did not complete. Check the address is a public website that loads without a login. If the site has very little text, the scan may not find enough to work with.
- An AI feature doesn't reflect your latest brain. Select Refresh, check the memory appears under Memories, then try again.
