Pages are the main building blocks of your website. **Strengthen → Content → Pages** shows your pages as a tree, one branch per website. Pick a page to edit it, add sub-pages beneath it, and publish your changes straight away or schedule them.

## Before you start

- Content must be included in your subscription's package. See [Package and add-ons](/account-and-access/package-and-add-ons).
- You need permission to view pages, and permission to create pages to add new ones. Ask a subscription administrator if a button you expect is missing. See [Users, teams, groups and permissions](/account-and-access/users-teams-groups-and-permissions).
- Every page needs an **Author**, so create at least one author first. See [Blog categories and authors](/strengthen/content-categories-and-authors).
- Your website must already be set up by an administrator in **Account → Settings → Content**. See [Content settings](/settings/content-settings).

If a Content screen shows **Unavailable**, select **Try again**.

## How the page tree works

Each website has one row at the top of the tree, showing the website name and its homepage, for example "My Site — Home". Every other page sits underneath the homepage, and a page's web address is built from its parents, so a page with the URL "team" under "about" lives at /about/team.

- A row shown in red is not enabled, so visitors can't see it.
- Drag a page to a new position to reorder it or move it under a different parent.
- Right-click a page to **Add Page** beneath it, open **Preview Page**, **Clear Frontend Cache**, **Enable** or **Disable** it, or **Delete** it. Which options you see depends on the page and your permissions.
- If a website doesn't have a homepage yet, its row shows an **Add Root Page** button.

## Create a page

- Step 1: Go to **Strengthen → Content → Pages**.
- Step 2: Select the page you want the new page to sit under. You can also right-click it and choose **Add Page**, then skip to step 4.
- Step 3: Open the **Add Page** menu below the tree and choose **Add Page**.
- Step 4: If your organisation has more than one page template, choose one, for example **Default Page** or **Landing Page**.
- Step 5: Fill in the fields on each tab. **URL** and **Author** are required.
- Step 6: Select **Publish now**, or open the **Actions** menu (the button next to it) and choose **Save Draft** instead.

If you have more than one website, the **Add Page** menu appears once you've selected a page.

## Create a homepage

- Step 1: Select **Add Root Page** on the website's row in the tree. If you have only one website, you can also choose **Add Root Page** from the **Add Page** menu below the tree.
- Step 2: Fill in the page and select **Publish now**.
- Step 3: Ask a subscription administrator to choose the new page as the website's **Root Page** in **Account → Settings → Content**. See [Content settings](/settings/content-settings).

A new homepage only appears in the tree, with its sub-pages beneath it, once it has been chosen as the website's **Root Page**.

## The page fields

The fields you see depend on the page template your administrator has set up. The standard template includes:

- **General**: **Name**, **Short Description** and **Page Body**. The page body uses the page builder: select **Open Builder**, add components from the **Component Library**, drag them into order and edit each one in the **Inspector**.
- **Media**: **Image** and **Thumbnail Image**.
- **SEO**: **URL**, **Meta Title**, **Meta Description** and **Author**. If you leave **Meta Title** empty, the page name is used when you save. The homepage has no URL field because it always sits at the root of the website.
- **Information**: **Site Layout**, where you choose a **Header Layout** and a **Footer Layout** or leave **Use default**. Each has its own **Include child pages** tick box, which applies that layout to every page beneath this one. See [Site layout](/strengthen/site-layout).

The **Landing Page** template adds a **Lead Generation** tab (for example **Conversion Goal**, **CTA Label** and **CTA URL**), **Image Alt Text** on the **Media** tab, and **Canonical URL** and **Structured Data** on the **SEO** tab.

Once a page has been saved, you also see **Versions** (a history of saved versions), **Review History** (preview reviews and publishing sign-off) and **Comments**, where your team can discuss the page.

## Publish, save as a draft or schedule

The buttons at the bottom right of the editor control what happens to your changes:

- **Publish now** makes your changes live and returns you to the page list. **Publish and continue** in the **Actions** menu publishes and keeps the editor open.
- **Save Draft** keeps your changes as a draft without changing the live page. Use **Edit Draft** to return to it later, **Exit Draft** to go back to the live version, or **Delete Draft** to discard it.
- **Schedule** asks for a **Go live at** date and time and saves your changes to go live then.
- **Schedule with revert** asks for both **Go live at** and **Revert at**, which is useful for a promotion that should end automatically. **Revert at** must be after **Go live at**.

When you change a page's URL, or move it so its address changes, Structurell creates a permanent redirect from the old address to the new one and updates links to it in your other pages, posts and categories. See [Redirects](/strengthen/content-redirects).

To remove a page, select **Delete** at the bottom left of the editor, or right-click the page in the tree.

## Preview and review

Once a page has been saved, select **Preview** to open it in a new tab using your website's own design. The preview updates as you edit, before you save.

If your organisation uses publishing sign-off, the **Review History** tab shows a **Publishing Sign-off** panel. Select **Submit for review** to send the current version to its approval stages. Reviewers choose **Approve version** or **Request changes**, giving a reason for any changes. If the content changes during review, older decisions no longer apply. A scheduled change that needs sign-off waits until it has been approved.

## Use AI to improve a page

If your package includes AI for Content, an **AI** button appears at the bottom left of the editor. Choose **Writing assistant** to get a rewrite of the content, the SEO metadata or both. You review each proposed change before anything is applied, and nothing is saved until you publish or save a draft. See [AI content suggestions](/strengthen/ai-content-suggestions).

## Notes

- If your web developer adds new page-builder components to your website, right-click the website's homepage row and choose **Import Elements** to load them into the **Component Library**.

## Troubleshooting

- **The Add Page menu is missing**: select a page in the tree first, and check that you have permission to create pages.
- **A new homepage doesn't appear in the tree**: it hasn't been chosen as the website's **Root Page** yet. See [Content settings](/settings/content-settings).
- **A page doesn't appear on the website**: check that it is enabled, it isn't still a draft, and any **Go live at** time has passed. If it still doesn't appear, right-click the page and choose **Clear Frontend Cache**.
