The **Products** page is where you build and maintain your product catalogue, set values for each store view, and send products to your connected online stores. You'll find it under **Strengthen → Commerce → Products**.

## Before you start

Your subscription needs to include Catalogue, and your role needs permission to view products. Creating, editing and deleting each need their own permission, so some buttons may be missing for you. The **Categories** and **Gallery** tabs also need permission to view categories and assets.

The fields on a product come from product templates (attribute sets) and attributes, which a subscription administrator manages in the catalogue settings.

## Finding products

- Search one column at a time, choosing it under **Search in**.
- Select **Filters**, then **+ Add Filter**, choose a field, condition and value, and select **Apply Filters**.
- Select **Columns** to choose which columns are shown.
- The summary tiles above the table count products that are **Enabled**, **Disabled**, **Out of stock** and **Missing images**. Select the **Disabled**, **Out of stock** or **Missing images** tile to filter the table to those products.
- Use the download button in the table footer (**Download filtered results**) to export the filtered list as CSV, JSON or XML.

## Creating a product

1. Go to **Strengthen → Commerce → Products** and select **New**.
2. If your catalogue has more than one product template, choose one from the **Attribute Set** list on the **Choose** tab. If there is only one, it is chosen for you.
3. Fill in the fields on each tab. With the default template you'll see **General**, **Categories**, **Price and Stock**, **SEO** and **Gallery**, but your tabs may differ.
4. Select **Save** to create the product and return to the list, or open the actions menu next to it and choose **Save and Continue** to stay on the product.

Some required fields, such as **Name** in the default template, must be filled in before you can save. Others only give a warning: you'll be told which ones are missing and asked to confirm that you want to save anyway.

## Editing, drafts and scheduling

Select a product to open it. Make your changes and select **Publish now** to make them live and return to the list, or choose **Publish and continue** from the actions menu to stay on the page. The actions menu also has:

- **Save Draft** keeps your changes without changing the live product. Use **Edit Draft** to return to it, **Exit Draft** to leave it, or **Delete Draft** to throw it away.
- **Schedule** asks for a **Go live at** date and time for your changes.
- **Schedule with revert** also asks for a later **Revert at** date and time, so a temporary change, such as a promotional price, switches back automatically.

Each product also has a **Comments** tab where your team can discuss changes.

## Setting values for a store view

Once a product has been sent to a store view (see the next section), you can give it different values for that store view, such as a translated name or a local price.

1. Open the product and select the **Global Values** button at the bottom of the page.
2. Choose a store view from the list. The product reopens showing that store view's values.
3. For each field, untick **Use global value** to enter a store view value, or leave it ticked to keep the global value.

Fields marked **This is a global value** can only be changed on the global view. To go back, choose **Global** from the same button.

## Sending products to your stores

If your subscription has an enabled connection that Catalogue can send products to, the product has an **Export To** section listing each connection and its store views. Tick each store view that should receive the product, then publish.

To add many products at once, tick them in the table, choose **Bulk update**, then under **Integrations** pick **Add to** *connection* **-** *store view*.

## Bulk updates, enabling and deleting

Tick the products you want, then choose **Bulk update**. Depending on your permissions and package, you can **Enable** or **Disable** them under **Status**, **Delete** them under **Deletion**, add them to a store view under **Integrations**, or run **Product categorisation** or **Queue IceCat Enrichment** under **Processing**. You'll be asked to confirm first.

For a single product, the actions menu on its row offers **Enable** or **Disable** and **Delete**, and an open product has a delete button at the bottom of the form. Treat deletion as permanent.

## AI tools

If your subscription includes AI for Catalogue, an AI actions button appears at the bottom of the product form, and **Product categorisation** also appears in the row actions menu.

- **Product categorisation** suggests categories. Tick the ones you want and select **Approve changes** to apply them.
- **Generate AI descriptions** drafts a description and short description once the product has a name and SKU. **Approve changes** places them in the form but doesn't save them, so publish afterwards.

In both, **Request changes** asks for a revised proposal and **Decline** discards it. Nothing changes until you approve.

## Importing products

To load a batch of products, select the import button in the table footer (its tooltip reads **Import records from a JSON file or pasted text**). Choose a .json file or paste JSON, and optionally pick a field under **Match existing rows on (optional)** so matching products are updated rather than duplicated. Then select **Import** and confirm.

On an open product, the JSON button lets you view, edit, import or export that one product as JSON.

To bring products in from another system, such as an online store or a supplier feed, a subscription administrator adds a connection under **Account → Organisation → Connections**. See [Connecting a provider](/connections/connecting-a-provider). If Icecat is set up, you can also enrich a product with **Import Icecat data** on the product form.

## Troubleshooting

### The save button is greyed out

A field that must be filled in is empty, or you haven't changed anything yet. Check each tab for highlighted fields.

### I can't see Export To

**Export To** only appears when an enabled connection that can receive products has at least one store view, and only on the global view of a product. Ask a subscription administrator to check **Account → Organisation → Connections**.
