Your profile holds your personal details, and your notification preferences decide which updates reach you and how. These settings belong to you, not to a subscription, so they follow you whichever subscription you are working in. This article covers your profile, the notifications list and your notification preferences.

## Open your profile

Open the user menu by selecting your name or picture in the top right of the Portal, then select **Account**. The **Account settings** page has four tabs:

- **Account**: personal details, language and photo. Covered below.
- **Password**: change your password. See [Changing or resetting your password](/getting-started/resetting-your-password).
- **Sign-in methods**: two-factor authentication and passkeys. See [Setting up two-factor authentication](/getting-started/two-factor-authentication) and [Logging in and using passkeys](/getting-started/logging-in).
- **Sessions & devices**: where you are signed in and which devices are remembered. See [Keeping your account secure](/getting-started/keeping-your-account-secure).

## Update your name, language or photo

1. On the **Account** tab, find the **Personal details** panel.
2. Change your **Full Name** or **Language** as needed.
3. To change your picture, select **Choose image** under **Profile Image** and pick a PNG, JPG or WebP file, or select **Remove image** to clear it.
4. Select **Save**.

You see "Profile updated successfully." Your name and picture update in the header straight away, and the Portal switches to the language you chose. **Full Name** and **Email Address** are required.

## Change your email address

You use your email address to sign in, and it is where we send sign-in codes and security emails, so a change only takes effect once you have proved you own the new address.

1. On the **Account** tab, enter the new address in **Email Address** and select **Save**.
2. In **Confirm it's you**, confirm with one of your sign-in methods, such as a passkey, an authenticator code, an email code or your current password, then select **Confirm**.
3. Open the email titled **Confirm your new Structurell email address**, sent to the new address, and select **Confirm email address**. Open it in a browser where you are signed in to Structurell.

Until you confirm, a notice under **Email Address** explains that the change is waiting and that you keep signing in with your current address. The link expires after 24 hours. When it works, you see "Your email address has been changed."

- To stop the change, select **Cancel change** in that notice. The link sent to the new address stops working.
- We also email your current address to tell you a change was requested. If you did not ask for it, cancel it and change your password straight away.
- The new address must not already be used by another Structurell account. If it is, you see "Your email address was not changed: that address is already used by another account."
- If the link has expired, save the new address again to get a fresh link.

## Your notifications

Select the bell in the header to see your latest notifications. From there you can **Mark All as Read** or select **View All Notifications** to open the full list.

On the **Notifications** page:

- Unread notifications are listed first. To see ones you have already read, select the button showing how many there are, for example **Show 5 read notifications**. Use **Load more** to page through long lists.
- Select a notification to go to the related page. Some notifications show **Cannot open** when there is nothing to open.
- Mark a notification read or unread, or delete it, using the controls next to it.
- **Mark All as Read** marks everything as read.
- **Clear read** deletes all of your read notifications. This cannot be undone.

Notifications for the subscription you are working in are labelled "For the current subscription"; others show the name of the subscription they belong to.

## Notification preferences

To choose how you are notified, select **Notification preferences** on the Notifications page, or open the user menu and select **Notification preferences**.

Each type of notification is listed with a short description and a switch for each delivery channel:

- **Portal**: shows the notification in the Portal.
- **Email**: sends it to your email address.
- **Push**: sends it to the Structurell iOS app. This switch is unavailable until you have signed in to the app on an iPhone or iPad. See [Using the Structurell iOS app](/getting-started/the-ios-app).

Turn a switch on or off and the change saves straight away, with the message "Notification preferences updated." Some notification types also offer a **Delivery frequency**, such as **Daily**, **Weekly** or **Monthly**, when the channel is switched on.

Some channels show **Required** instead of a switch. These cannot be turned off. For example, **Security Activity** emails tell you about important changes to your password, passkeys or two-factor authentication, so they are always sent.

The notification types you see depend on the services in your current subscription and your permissions. For example, you only see **Chat Messages** if your subscription uses Chat and you have access to it, and some types, such as **API Token Expiry** and **Integration Connection Problems**, are aimed at subscription administrators. Common types include:

- **Website Health Changes**
- **Usage Limits**
- **Service Status**
- **Subscription and Billing Changes**
- **Subscription Access Requests**
- **Audit Results**
- **Scheduled Publication Failures**

For alerts that go to shared channels rather than individual people, see [Notification routes](/connections/notification-routes).
