You sign in to the Structurell Portal on a secure Structurell sign-in page. You can use a passkey, which lets you sign in with your fingerprint, face or device PIN, or your email address and password followed by a two-factor authentication code. This article covers both, plus how to add and manage passkeys.

## Log in with your email and password

1. Go to the Portal. If you are not signed in, you are taken to the sign-in page automatically. If you see the **Client Portal Access** page, select **Continue to Sign In**.
2. On the **Log In** page, enter your **Email** and **Password**.
3. Tick **Remember me** if you are on a device you trust and want to stay signed in.
4. Select **Log in**.
5. Enter your two-factor code in **Authentication code**. If you use email codes, the code is emailed to you. If you use an authenticator app, open the app and enter the code it shows.
6. If this is your own device, you can tick **Remember this device for 30 days** so you are not asked for a code here again for 30 days.
7. Select **Verify**.

You are then taken to the page you were trying to open.

If you are waiting for an email code, you can select **Resend code**. You can request a new code once a minute; until then the link shows how many seconds are left. Email codes expire after 10 minutes. To start again with a different account, select **Back to login**.

You can see and forget remembered devices at any time. See [Keeping your account secure](/getting-started/keeping-your-account-secure). For more about codes and recovery codes, see [Setting up two-factor authentication](/getting-started/two-factor-authentication).

## Log in with a passkey

A passkey is a secure sign-in credential stored on your device, in your password manager or on a hardware security key. When you sign in with a passkey you do not need to enter your password or a two-factor code.

1. On the **Log In** page, select **Sign in with passkey**.
2. Follow your browser or device prompt, for example Touch ID, Face ID, Windows Hello or your security key.

The **Sign in with passkey** button only appears in browsers that support passkeys. If you close the prompt without using a passkey, you see "No passkey was used. Continue with email and password." and can sign in with your password instead.

## Add a passkey

The first time you sign in with your password and a code, and you have no passkeys yet, the sign-in page asks **Set up a passkey?**. Select **Set up passkey** and follow your device prompt, or select **Not now** to carry on. You are only asked once, but you can add a passkey from the Portal at any time:

1. Open the user menu in the top right of the Portal and select **Account**.
2. Select the **Sign-in methods** tab.
3. In the **Passkeys** panel, select **Add passkey**.
4. In **Name this passkey**, give it a name you will recognise, such as the device it is on, and select **Save**.
5. Follow your browser or device prompt to create the passkey.

You see "Passkey added." and the passkey appears in the list, labelled **This device** or **Security key**, with the date it was last used. We also email you when a passkey is added or removed, so you will know if anyone else changes your sign-in settings.

## Rename or delete a passkey

In **Account → Sign-in methods → Passkeys**, find the passkey in the list.

- Select **Rename**, change the name and select **Save**.
- Select **Delete**, then **Delete** again to confirm. You can no longer sign in with that passkey.

Delete passkeys for devices you no longer use or have lost.

## After you sign in

- If you sign in with a code and do not use an authenticator app, the Portal may show **Make sign-in safer**. Select **Use authenticator app** to go to your sign-in settings, or **Not now** to carry on.
- If you belong to more than one subscription, you may be asked to **Choose a subscription**. See [Choosing and switching subscriptions](/getting-started/creating-or-switching-subscriptions).

## If you see "Locked"

If you were away for a while and your session ended, the sign-in page may show **Locked** with your email address already filled in. Enter your password to carry on where you left off. If this is not your account, select **Not you? Use another account**.

## Log out

Open the user menu in the top right and select **Log Out**. To sign out of other browsers and devices too, see [Keeping your account secure](/getting-started/keeping-your-account-secure).

## Troubleshooting

- **Your email and password are not accepted.** Check for typing mistakes and that you are using the email address your account uses. If you have forgotten your password, select **Forgot password?** on the sign-in page. See [Resetting your password](/getting-started/resetting-your-password). Accounts that have been disabled cannot sign in, and show the same message.
- **Too many attempts.** After five failed attempts you must wait before trying again. The message tells you how long.
- **The authentication code is invalid.** Make sure you enter the latest code. Authenticator app codes change regularly, so check your device's clock is set automatically. Each email code can only be used once.
- **Passkey sign in failed.** Try again, or sign in with your email and password and check the passkey is still listed under **Sign-in methods**.
- **"This browser does not support passkeys."** Use a current version of your browser, or sign in with your email and password.
- **Single sign-on.** Structurell does not currently offer sign-in with Microsoft, Google or other identity providers. Use a passkey or your email and password.
